Position Description

Coordinator for Campus Life

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Coordinator for Campus Life within the Kimmel Student Involvement Center. This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of comprehensive educational and co-curricular events and activities. These programs are designed to enrich the student experience and contribute to a vibrant campus environment that supports student recruitment and retention.

Coordinator for Campus Life Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in interpreting policy and providing general advice, training, and guidance to the Campus Activities Board Leadership Council.
  • Directly advise the Campus Activities Board Engaging Issues and Topics Chair and the Student Government External Affairs Chair.
  • Coordinate the campus partner committee for Cougar Welcome, Black Heritage Month, and inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month.
  • Coordinate the SIUE Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair and other vendor fairs.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of various major campus programs and events sponsored by Camus Activities Board.
  •  Maintain website for Campus Activities Board and the Kimmel Student Involvement Center.
  • Coordinate the creation and printing of the annual Campus Activities Board brochure and other general marketing materials.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with campus partners, faculty and staff, and general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field is preferred.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Student Government and Campus Activities Board.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, legal issues in higher education, and risk management practices.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or InDesign is preferred.  Web design experience is also preferred.
  • Experience supervising student staff or graduate assistants.
  • Ability to work night and weekends as needed for programming and departmental requirements.
  • The candidate must possess the ability to work effectively in a team and fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadline. There will also be times when the candidate will be expected to complete tasks, make decision, and communicate with staff with little or no supervision. Must be able to multitask and take initiative when necessary.
